A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS

I can not claim myself to be a mother's pet.In fact i had always been close to my dad , despite the fact that my father is a man of few words and seldom has shown his affection distinctly.Perhaps his presence near by, his masculinity, his way of doing things (in which you could always see perfection and a touch of class) made me close to him.THAT DOES NOT HOWEVER MEAN I WAS DISTANT FROM MY MOTHER.

Contrary to my father, my mother is very amiable and social.She can become friend in a matter of minutes with any one and every one.She is innoscent in many ways and would always look like a child, when my father is around.But her greatest attraction is her readiness to mix with people in very affectionate manner.In no time she will come out with complete deatils of the person with whom she has engaged in conversation hardly a few minutes back.

And she is an adaptor.Whether it be managing the ends and means in the salary of my father (If i remember correct it was hardly Rs 300 or so in those days in which we six children are to be taken care of, besides the never ending steam of visitors)or managing the home later in the salary of my brother , in a hut sort dwelling unit, near oppiliappan koil, before he got married,(where my father and mother stayed for coule of years and befor i got married)she had always been at ease.She is capable of preparing something or other with wahtever left out in the house and make it appear to be a decent meal for the visitors.She is very quick, agile and very silent when it comes to cooking(a point where in even today i pick up qualrrels with my loving wife).You will never know when she was in the kitchen, when she was out and when she prepared all those tasty foods.(Items are far and few but each of which has a taste of its own).

And when ever we have gone out she will be like a MAHARANI.Yes, my father was a railway employee and as a result he used to get Free PASS for himself and his family each year. But he has seldom used. AND WHENEVER HE USED IT ,the person who cherished every moment of it is my mother.And that would be clearly visible in her face. Even other wise she always used to be smiling and during such trips the smile will be writ across the entire movements of hers.And it would have a cascding effect on all of us and that is why those journeys are ever green in memeory.

I have learnt quite a few things from her in my childhood. The important one is to pray (and the earliest of slogas to me is taught by her which i narrate even today), to play as and when possible( i do not recollect any instance when either my father or my mother has asked me to stop playing and start studying)and to eat well. At any time of the day, whether it be morning, noon or even midnight (even after i got married and there is a wife taking care of all my needs with out batting an eye lid)she used to ask me whether i had my food. At times it would even sound irritating to me and my wife as she would have seen me having the meal and washing the plates etc.Still that is the way she has shown her affection and concern.AS she is not serving the food (Which she used to do when we were youngsters)the desire to do the same is relected by her questions.I NOW RECALL WITH AFFECTION THE MEANING BEHIND HER ACTIONS, when i myself query my daughter/son irrespective of the time zone in which they operate as to whether they had the food and what food they ate etc.It is the "Mother's touch" in the famous words of KB.

At this hour, years after my mother has passed away,i do not know whether i have shown her as much affection and love as she had shown to me.To be honest, i am poor in my showing my love and affection to those around.THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I HAVE FOUND MY SELF TO BE ALOOF AND ALONE(No regrets on that count however)with very few friends (one of them my dear son).This has helped me to understand what it is to be jovial, transparent, innoscent all at the same time , which are all the qualities of mother.

It may be too difficult to change at this age. But it give an opportunity to know the different dimensions in better perspective.

And i bow my head to my mother who enabled me appreciate the nuances of the same.
And as they said it is thw ife who takes the seat of a mother in mother's absence and it is the daughter who steps in to the role later as a mother.Each one of them have taught me lessons in their own inimitable stayle.(ABOUT WHICH A POST LATER ).

ON THIS MOTHER'S DAY MY RESPECTS TO ALL MOTHERS WHO MADE THE LIFE WORTH LIVING.AND AS SOME ONE SAID, THERE CAN NOT BE A BTTER STATEMENT TO DESCRIBE THE MOTHERS THAN THE FOLLOWING ONE:
"GOD CAN NOT BE PRESENT EVERY WHERE AND THEREFORE HE HAS CREATED MOTHERS"

From a child to a mother

There are good times and bad times.These are basiclaly classified based on the events perse in one's own life and in lifves of those closer to one self.But if only some one sits back and analyse with out any prejudice, wisdom will be there to the effect that all times are good and it is the way we associste the events with it that changes the complexion.

The post and its contents are a reflection on the news of twin addition to my family circle.In the process i have become a grand father twice in a span of one minute,yes the arrival of twin sons to my co brother's daughter , one at 9.29 am and the other at 9.30 am, gave me those crowns.One , i am told looks like the mother, soft and chubby, while the other possibly reflects the father, cute, lean and mischivous.

It appears as if i have seen the mother of the twins herself as a kid only few days back.Yes at times decades appear like days and days appear like decades.All in life..and the life comes in circles.No doubt on that!!

Hardly 18 months back, i was extending a moral support along wih my wife to this mother of twins, blessing her for her desires to become fruitful.And in a span of 18 months she has become a mother , and the first one at that TO BE BLESSED WITH TWINS.

Having seen her in close quarters as a lovable daughter, an obedient child and an understanding/calm girl (in her teens) it is difficult to believe that she has now become a mother.A girl develops fast, they say compared to a boy, and it is something to be seen to be believed.And all said and done. i am sue that those twin kids are really blessed to have a mother like her, calm, cool and amiable...

MAY THE HEAVENS BLESSINGS BE SHOWERED ON THIS BEAUTIFUL FAMILY OF HERS EVERY SECOND..

The Hindu functions (please do not treat this as a post from a fanatic Hindu)like any other religious functions of other castes have their variety and charm.It is quite unfortunate that these functions are now being carried out more to prove that they belong to a particular caste/creed/religion etc rather than to understand the inner significance and appreciate the nuances of the same.

Possibly the persons to be blamed are persons like me who witness the transition , with out being in a position to influence them in any way..Silent spectators to the events around us. REASON IS SIMPLE. One generation previous to ours had the time , enery and willingness to stick to the laid down values, principles and dictums of their religion.No questions asked.Mere compliance. And they had their say in those days.Possibly they understood why they did certain things and why they chose not to do certain things.But the generation to which i belong to seldom asked questions. HAD WE ASKED QUESTIONS WE WOULD HAVE GOT THE ANSWERS.Whether we are comfortable with teh answers which we got is a different issue . But atleast we would have done some thing or stopped doing some thing with a reason for the same.This did not happen and therefore we blindly followed the previous generation.

Then came the present generation.A generation, with energy, high IQ levels and a tendency to ask questions on any thing and every thing, whether it be religious beliefs, whether it be scientific discoveries, whether it be the acceptance or other wise of the existence of GOD.Our generation which simply copied the earlier generation did not have convincing answers to the questions of the present generation.The result is , non compliance, diversity of thoughts, a journey which will take place only when answers are known.

It is in this back drop i sit to analyse the deep rooted meaning of Durga pooja.Whether one believes in existence of god or other wise is immaterial. Every body will agree to the existence of MOTHER, as they owe their presence in the present world to them.MOTHER is some one who has given her life, blood and life to her siblings. AS some one remarked "God can not be every where and therefore he created mothers".Some one else remarked that "there may be good or bad women around us, but all mothers are good."

Thus Durga is nothing but the manifestation of the Mother.We celebrate Durga pooja in various forms, in style. In Mysore it is Dussera, In Tamil nadu it is NAVARTAHRI,in Kolkata it is 'Durga Pooja".By what ever name you call it it is nothing but thanking the mothers.Mother has given her children the wealth of life, Knowledge and power / Her blood is the milk with which the present generation has come to stay and grow with energy.With out her love and affection life would have lost its relevance and its meaning.As one grows up the love and affection of father, sisters and brothers, near and dear, lover and wife and so on and so forth will be enjoyed. But the first point of love and affection is due to the mother .

Mother teaches confidence, makes the baby strong, fight against ailments,feed the food, gift the child with apt dresses and other valuable gifts from time to time.MAY BE THE MONEY IS DERIVED IN THE YESTER YERS FROM FATHERS, But today when the women have started ruling the world, they are capable of gifing any thing and ever thing to the children by themselves.

Durga poja MANIFESTS ITSELD AS SARASWATHI POOJA(GODDESS OF EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE),LAXMI POOJA (GODDESS OF WEALTH) and KALI POOJA(goddess of STRENGTH-of mind and body alike).By praying on these days to the three goddesses what we really do is to symbolically crave the blessings of all mothers in the world who made their children proud by extending comfort and affection, at all times, not withstanding their own ailments/limitations.

Mother is the symbolic epitome of "SAKTHI(POWER)" and Durga pooja symbolises worshipping all three powers which make the humans to lead the present life with happiness and peace of mind.yes, WEALTH, HEALTH AND KNOWLEDGE,three ingredients of a peaceful and puroposeful life in our material world..

LET US UNITE TOGTEHR TO INVOKE THE GODDESSES WITH OUR PRAYERS ON THIS VIJAYADASAMI DAY and offer our gifts to the living GODDESS OF THE HOMES..MOTHERS.

MAY VIJAYA DASAMI bring every one prosperity,peace of mind and ever lasting happines in all walks of life. .
